Alphess Remi A white streak of fur walked into the clearing with a bunny hanging from her jaws, a decent meal to snack on. At least it was something to hold her off until the rest of the pack and her could go hunting for something larger and more filling. Brown optics scanned the camps clearing for any signs of activity and came up empty. "I guess nobody is up..." the she-wolf mumbled around the rabbit hanging around her jaws as she continued on her way. It was still the same as before, nothing new despite all the years. Would it still be the same when she herself was gone? Best not to think on such depressing thought's. The alphess settled down on a sunny rock before she dug into her meal, tearing at flesh and picking at the fur before spitting it out. The red metallic taste burst on her tongue as she ate away, blood pooling at her forepaws and coating her prestine coat a bloody red. However the fae stopped eating when the rabbit was half gone and put it aside for her mate, perhaps he would be hungry when he came back from where ever he was. As she waited for him she decided to clean the blood from her fur.

Hosi wandered through the forest, completely tired and out of breath. For the past few sun movements, he had been trotting around the camp, training his body and building his stamina. One negative thing about his large form was that it was cumbersome, so he needed to exercise almost every day so that his body wouldn't collapse on itself.
He made his way around the camp, trying to spy on any activity. However, there wasn't a lot going on in the pack. Eventually, his eyes fell on Remi, who had been chewing down on a doe. He came up from behind her right as she half finished the meal and tilted his head. "Saving that for someone?" he asked her, moving up to sit right next to her. His blue orbs fell on her, then back at the meat. "It doesn't seem like you. Shouldn't you be eating all of that and saving me the bones?" NOTES ;

Ezrihel stirred as the early morning light filtered down from the opening of the den. It's simply too early for this. He thought as he curled up more, putting his left paw over his eyes. Why are there voices outside? Who thought being up this soon was a good idea? The dried pine needles and soft shrubbery that made up the padding of the den was ever so warm and incredibly enticing. He lay in his own little indentation, a ball of muted purple and black fur. His thick tail moved to hide his dark nose.
Before too long though the light entering the den made sleep impossible, rest even less so. He gave a soft groan and allowed his golden-yellow eyes to crack open. He blinked a few times and allowed his pupils to adjust to the brightness. As his pupils shrunk, one would be able to see the green rings at the center of his irises.
"...Shouldn't you be eating all of that and saving me the bones?"
Ah, yes. The voice of one of his least favorite wolves in the world. Ez flicked his right ear, internally annoyed that he had to wake up to the deep rumbling voice of his Alpha Male. That dog had stood in his way long enough that just his simple presence made the purple wolf want to twitch out of impatience. Ezrihel ran his tongue over his lips a few times, trying to get that recognizable god-awful taste of bile out of his mouth.
He gives a yawn, then rolls from his side onto his belly. He crawls out of the den and shakes himself off, making certain that any twig or bit of plant was off his pelt. He padded forward- just a few steps with his front limbs- and arched his back deeply, seeming to bow the top end of his body down. His shoulders roll, jostling back and forth as they lose their sleepy stiffness.
The air in the clearing of the camp ground was light and cool, the splatters of shade thrown across the grounds only helping to keep the temperature down. Little beads of morning dew still clung to the long and unruly blades of grass and stems of unblossomed flowers. Every so often a soft breeze would rustle the branches of the trees and if one listened closely enough, they could hear the sharp chatters of distant squirrels.
Ezrihel casts a short glance at the Alpha pair, giving a flick of his tail at them in respectful acknowledgement. He made his way across the clearing to a more shady spot and sat back on his hind legs. He set to grooming himself and making sure he looked as presentable as possible.
As the sun rose in the sky so with it rose the sounds of various fauna all around the campsite. Songbirds chirped, flapping their wings as they darted from one tree to the next. A hawk cried somewhere overhead, and the faint sounds of the small prey animals seemed to instinctively hush until they felt the coast was clear. Off, some indeterminable distance away, a turtle dove cried out with it's soft whoot-whooting call, as if serenading the forest with it's voice.
When he was done cleaning himself he gave another glance to the chatting alpha pair and softly slid into a laying position. He certainly still wanted to rest, as last night had been a long and boring vigil spent watching and listening to the quiet hush of the night time forest. In all his time, none of his pack had bothered to even speak to him- No! Only the beautiful waxing quarter moon had bothered to keep him company during his watch hours.
Ah, the job of the underappreciated was never truly done, now was it?

Alphess Remi Rythmic lick's of Remi's tongue along her glossy white pelt distracted the alphess from her surrounding's, allowing her a moment of peace that she had unconsciously lapsed into. A state of mind that could prove deadly and catastrophic for the she-wolf had she not been in her own territory. But even then was she truly ever safe from the hungry jaws of death that approached ever nearer? This virus that had swept through the world had proved that anything could happen. Remi never had the chance to see a human before, but from what her mother described them as seemed simple enough. She pictured them as hairless creatures that walked upright, strange and odd that they only had a mop of hair on their head. At least that's what her mother had said and her mother wasn't one to lie about those kinds of things. They had to be very smart as from what her mother told her as a pup was that they dominated half the world and had vast populations and territory control. Something she could only dream her pack would ever control. Not that Remi wanted that, no she only took what she and her pack needed, nothing more and nothing less. Life was delicate and it was fragile, Remi learned at a very young age that it needed to be treated as such and that there was a balance to maintain. A chain reaction should one decision prove to be the wrong one could upset the entire balance.
The pristine white coat that Remi usually maintained was stained a soft rosy pink from the blood of her meal, no matter how much grooming she did the color wouldn't wash out unless she washed up in a stream or let time itself to its job. So with a final lick, the alphess gave up and surveyed her land, her territory. A satisfied grin forming on her maw when those thoughts drifted through her mind. Yes, this was her kingdom and nobody was going to take it away from her without a fight, one Remi would go down kicking in. She might be lacking in the size department, but she had other assets to benefit her, something Mother Nature blessed her with and Remi was prepared to use them to their full usage. So lost in thought Remi didn't hear the paw steps approaching her from behind until the deep rumbling voice of someone very familiar reached her rounded receptors. Remi tensed for a brief moment, ready to spring up and swirl around to face her opponent before she realized who it was. So he finally decided to join her? Relaxing her tensed body Remi let a sly smile form on her inky black lips. "And who said I was saving it for you?" She spoke with a sultry rasp as she turned her honey brown eyes onto her mate. She was about to speak once again before a flash of dark fur caught her attention. Turning her white cranium Remi looked upon one of her ambitious pack-mates, Ez. She watched as he slid to the ground and laid down and appearing as if having nothing to do Remi decided it was best to interact with him. Why not? He was her subordinate and it was best that she got to know her own pack, after all, this experience could only be beneficial for her and him alike. So with a flirtatious wink in her mate's direction, she scampered off towards the newest pack addition. "Feel free to finish the rabbit! My tastes seem to have dried up for it and I'm craving something a bit more juicy," she yipped over her shoulder before setting her sights on Ez. "Morning Ez, sleep well?" The fae asked when she was finally within hearing distance. She paused a few feet from the brute, wanting to keep personal space a thing before she decided to sit down.

Post by Hosi on Feb 15, 2017 17:45:37 GMT -8
Hosi noticed how Remi had tensed up at the sound of his voice. For what reason would she do that other than if she was startled? Maybe she was a little bit carefree in her own 'kingdom.' Or course, Hosi didn't blame her. She had a full pack of wolves that stood by her side, and a towering, monstrous wall of a beast constantly looking over her shoulder. If Hosi had Hosi as protection, Hosi would be careless too. However, any slight sign of weakness from an alpha was a bad thing, so Hosi would be sure to rid of her carefree attitude. Maybe constantly sneaking up to her and going "boo!" would have her more alert in her own pack.
At the realization of Hosi's presence, Remi loosened herself and relaxed. She turned to him, giving him a sly smile. She made a comment on how she wasn't likely saving the rabbit for him, and he gave the foxy fae a sultry smile of his own. "Giving food to someone else other than me? You really know how to hurt me, Alphess."
Hosi had a little more to say, but his conversation with his mate was quickly interrupted when another wolf appeared. He noticed how Remi's attention befell the other male, and a sigh escaped his lips. Well, it'd be a while before his mate focused on him again, so he might as well pass the time by doing something else.
Just as he predicted, Remi left Hosi's side to talk with the other male. She said that Hosi could chew on the rest of the rabbit and he happily obliged. He ravaged the dead animal with his teeth, feasting on its very bones from hunger. As mentioned before, he had done a healthy amount of exercise, and he was now famished. The rabbit's meat was thankfully welcomed by his mouth.
However, as Hosi ate, he kept his eyes on the other male in the area. He had heard rumors of this pup, but he hadn't met the wolf yet. This male, who went by the name 'Ez', was a new addition to the pack, not originally born in the Silver Mist. He'd gone through the tests of acceptance, but he wasn't officially accepted yet. He was still an unknown wolf, and he'd remain a possible threat in Hosi's eyes until he could prove himself loyal to the pack. So far, Hosi didn't enjoy this pup's attitude. Thus, he made sure to keep a close eye on "Ez." NOTES ;

Ezrihel gave a quiet sigh and stretched out his fore paws. He gave a casual yawn and rested his law on his wrists. His yellow-green eyes studied the world around him, watching how the wind blew through the branches of the trees, casting ambiguous shadow puppets on the clearing floor. A few hazy clouds drifted lazily overhead, plump and heavy with soon to be rain, but aside from that the great big blue sky was empty.
Every once in a while, he spotted a bird dart past the gaps in the leaves, probably catching little flying insects. His ears keenly picked up on the response the Alphess gave to her mate, "And who said I was saving it for you?"
"Giving food to someone else other than me? You really know how to hurt me, Alphess."
Their banter was obviously playful, jesting with flirtatious tones and muted grins- but then it stopped dead, as if suspended in the air. He felt their gazes fall on his form, but he paid them little attention. He halfway expected them to change their voices to nearly silent whispers now that they had noticed him across the clearing.
"Feel free to finish the rabbit! My tastes seem to have dried up for it and I'm craving something a bit more juicy," rang the voice of his lovely Alphess Remi. Without having to turn his gaze, he could tell she was padding towards where he laid. He could feel the vibrations her steps put in the ground through his body.
He shifted, moving to sit up and face Remi as she approached him. He gave his shoulders a gentle roll, stretching his chest a bit. She stopped a few feet from him, and he bowed his head respectfully, "Morning Ez, sleep well?"
"Ah, the always lovely Alphess Remi." he raised his head partway so he could look her in the face, "Good morning to you as well. I got a few hours in, but I typically rise with the sun. Vigil last night went well for the most part, extremely quite if anything." His rich tenor voice easily carried from his throat. He gave a flick of his ear, seeing Hosi in the side of his vision. That black wolf was observing him intensely while scarfing down the remainders of Remi's bunny rabbit. Jealously is unbecoming of you, old-wolf. Ez thought to himself, giving no real sign that he had even noticed Hosi's dead stare.
"What do I owe the absolute pleasure of your company to, my Alphess?" he ventured to ask in a soft voice, "not to doubt your actions, but certainly there are much more important things to take time from your day to handle than my simple self."
He would wait for her to speak and respond to him, his yellow-green eyes studying her facial expressions and body language. He felt the breeze tussle the long mane like dark fur on the back of his neck. He gave a glance to the entrance of the camp.
"Alphess Remi, I see you caught a rabbit this morning. I take it that the hunt is good out in the forest today, correct?" He paused then continued, "I was thinking about going out and hunting for a little bit later on myself. Maybe you would care to join me for it, show me some of the common trails the game animals tend to follow? It would go a long way towards helping me provide for the pack."
His tone is gentle, quiet and every bit asserting that he wants nothing more than to prove himself useful.

Alphess Remi Previous to her mates comment Remi gave a devilish grin before rolling her shoulders nonchalantly, "aw you have me all figured out. I guess I'll just have to change my ways," the vixen grined crookedly before she returned her attention back onto her packmate, Ez. The sound of crunching bones and tearing of flesh was indication enough to Remi that Hosi was feasting on little remains she left behind of the rabbit, not that she minded he finished it. It's not like she was going to back and eat it any time soon so it would have only been wasteful on her part. When Ez greeted the ivory female with a bow of his head at her presence. Remi simply nodded her head in acknowledgment to Ez's respect, whether it was to her or her authority Remi didn't know. "No reason other than to simply get to know the ones I'll be relying on most. Don't you think it's only wise to get to know those you're living with?" Was the alphess response to the males inqury, "plus I think my lovely mate can manage." Remi put more emphasis on the word mate as she spoke slightly louder, though she never took her gaze off from Ez as she continued on like she didn't just taunt Hosi. "I don't know if you've noticed Ez, but there isn't much to do around here. I can spare a few moments to spend with a packmate, a good alpha knows not only their territory inside and out, but they also know the members that help guard and protect it. Essentially I am doing alpha duties by talking with you." The white fae grinned triumphantly at the deep purplish black male, she had a feeling she won that point there, if there was even a point to be made.
The sudden change of topic had the vixen tilting her head slightly to the left before she righted it once more. "Hm, yes it's only fair that you know the most prime hunting spots in SilverMist's territory so you'll be able to provide for the pack in the future." Remi nodded her head in agreement. "Alright. Shall we go now then? That way we can perhaps take down an elk or something later on in the day after I show you around." Evening was a wonderful time to go hunting. Remi's evening hunting experiences suggested that the herds were generally more relaxed in that time period, more so than all the other time periods in a day. It would be a golden opportunity and one Remi could use to gauge how useful Ez truely was to her and the pack despite the many tests he did to join SilverMist. Looking over her shoulder Remi called out to her mate, "Hosi, Ez and I are going to go on a walk together and maybe go on a hunt later on." Hopefully her telling him where she was going would help prevent him freaking out.

When Remi commented about her mate managing without her, Hosi lifted his head from his meal and gave a low growl. He finished the rabbit in record time, all the while listening to the wolves conversation. Ez kissed up to Remi's butt, which made Hosi strangely happy. There was something about other wolves respecting and marveling at Remi that gave him a sense of pride. He watched over her since they were old enough to remember, and seeing her be the leader she was raised to be was marvelous.
When she commented on the duties of an Alpha, Hosi couldn't help but nod in agreement. He would get to know Ez as well, but there was something about that wolf's attitude that really pissed Hosi off. He was afraid that if he got to know him, he would rip his stomach open, or worse for no reason other than hearing him talk, and turning against a pack member in Silver Mist was a large taboo. Only the head Alpha could do that, and her name was Remi.
Eventually, the conversation of hunting came up, and Ez asked if Remi would show him where the best hunting spots were. Remi happily obliged, then looked back at Hosi, telling him where they were going. The wolf merely waved a paw at them to usher them away.
"Do as you wish, but be careful." he said to his Alphess. He then turned to the other male wolf, looking at him with sharp eyes. "You be careful too, Ez. And remember, the Silver Mist have eyes and ears are everywhere. So don't do anything stupid."
With that, he watched the two wolves leave. When they were gone, he sat in place for a little while, deep in thought, then rolled over on his back, moaning in a sense of pain and pleasure. "Oh dear." he said to himself, but loud enough for any prying ears to hear. "This is what I get for eating after waking up early. Now all I want to do is sleep." NOTES ;

i wake at the first cringe of morning and my heart's already sinned
Brett had rose when Hosi first had, slipping out of Silver Mist's den site shortly after the Alpha had himself. It wasn't uncommon for the female to be up so early, though her reasoning was different from Hosi's. She liked to make a trip around Silver Mist's borders before the Pack woke up, simply because she didn't like surprises. If she remained vigilant, she could keep her Pack safe and well. Hosi was usually back before she was and this morning had proved no different. It was still early and the Pack was barely getting to their paws good. She arrived just as Remi and Ez were leaving. Concerned for her friend, she turned her head to watch them go, wondering if she should join them. Ez was new and they knew very little about him. She didn't like the idea of Remi going off on her own with a strange male, but if Hosi had allowed it, there wasn't much that she could do anyway.
When they were out of sight, Brett turned her head back to look forward, shaking out the pine needles from her thick coat. The pine needles were annoying, always getting stuck in her fur and poking her if she moved a certain way. She didn't get all of them out, but she did get most. For now, that would have to do. Before she moved again, she took an account of the clearing before her. Not many wolves were up yet, which was disappointing. Brett didn't like to be doing nothing. There was always something to do, after all, and if you weren't doing what you could, when you could, then what was the point?
Well, there was one wolf up, at least; sort of, anyway. Hosi was lying on his back, paws outstretched into the air. It was a very peculiar position to find the Alpha in. He must have thought that there was no other wolf around, since Remi and Ez had left. Though she'd never played as a pup, she'd been learning quite a bit from the pups of the Pack and, out of character as it was for her, she lowered her chest and wagged her now raised tail. It was what the pup did to signify that they wanted to play. Play wasn't necessarily her goal. She more intended to startle the Alpha, if she could, but she wanted to do seeming as non-threatening as possible. She would give her life for her Pack and her Alphas, but she was still very careful with the way she behaved. She couldn't risk losing her family.
Brett stayed still for as long as she thought she could without him getting up and then, in an instant, she bounded forward and landed very near the Alpha, her two large front paws landing heavily on his chest. She gave a sharp yip as she landed and even laughed a little, wondering if she'd succeeded in startling him or not.

Hosi lazily rolled about with not a care in the world. In that moment, his body was fighting for him to fall asleep more than his conscience was fighting to stay awake. In truth, this was very justified. After all, Hosi was always the last to fall asleep, making sure that his pack was safe and nothing was wrong, and the first to wake up. He rarely, if ever, took a break and relaxed. Only when his mind forced him to go to sleep did he sleep, which happened a lot more frequently due to his old age.
As Hosi relaxed, a certain mischievous wolf decided that it would be a good idea to disturb him. When Brett landed right near him and yelped, Hosi's entire body convulsed and jumped in the air. "AAAAAH!" he screamed out, very surprised by the younger wolf's sneak attack. He thought he was going to die, and he prepared himself for the worst. His heart pumped faster, and adrenaline surged through him like never before. When he finally realized who the wolf was that startled him, he found himself calming a little, but his fierce breathing never stopped, and a sense of embarrassment and anger washed over him.
"That's not cute!" Hosi yelled at Brett, who stood over him with her paws on his chest. He tried to sound as he always did, respectable and dominant, but after that embarrassing display it was hard to keep his normal persona. "I will need you to explain to me latter why you decided to give your alpha a heart attack, Brett."
Hosi rolled over on his side, prompting Brett to get her paws off of him. He couldn't even express how embarrassed he was. Just a sun movement ago, he was criticizing Remi for being too relaxed, and here he was ready to jump to the moon because of a younger female wolf.
However, there was a part of Hosi that felt a little pride for the wolf. Not many people could successfully sneak up on the alpha male. For now, he would pretend that it said more for Brett than it did for him.
"You know, if you sneak up on food the way you did on me, we'd probably never go hungry again." Hosi would say in a much calmer voice.

i wake at the first cringe of morning and my heart's already sinned
Normally, the yelling would have sent her tail between her legs and ears careening away from the noise by pinning themselves flat against her head. Not this time though. This time, she'd expected the yelling, embraced it even. Her only reaction was a short, soft snicker. Once she'd collected herself, her paws left his side and she backed off a pace, tail waving like a banner behind her. She hadn't expected to be victorious in her ambush, after all. "Someone's got to keep you on your toes, don't they?" Honestly though, she'd just done it for fun. Even still, she did feel guilty for startling him so, as enjoyable as it had been.
"No one was awake to see, Hosi," she mentioned, hoping to put his mind at ease. "It isn't often that I catch you not paying attention." She would be a very poor fighter if she didn't take advantage of absolutely ever opportunity to outwit or outmaneuver her opponent. Naturally, Brett had gone into a sitting position as she spoke to her Alpha, head lowered so that it was just beneath his out of respect. It had been very difficult to learn this normal wolf custom after her training with Ezra, but she found that after a while it came very naturally when in Hosi's or Remi's presence. Her large ears were forward and intent, her eyes still bright with the excitement of what she'd just accomplished even if she refused to show the emotion by any other means.
At the mention of food, she could hear her stomach rumbling faintly and the excitement quickly turned to embarrassment. She wasn't a hunter, she was a fighter, but that hadn't ever stopped her from trying. In theory, she should be a master hunter. Prey was much simpler to kill than other wolves, after all. Only for Brett, this wasn't the case. The creatures of the forest weren't fighting her and because she didn't have much insight on the inner workings of their minds as she did with most of her opponents, she found it quite difficult to catch them. Still, she managed from time to time. Even if she did managed to catch something, however, she always brought her prey directly to the Alphas. They ate first, no matter how long it had been since she had. Hopefully, the hunters would catch some large prey soon. Then, they could all eat.
"Prey will be caught soon," she half-stated, half-prayed. After giving a definitive nod of her head in order to give more meaning to the words, she glanced back toward the opening of their humble clearing and finally asked about what had been bugging her ever since she arrived. "Is Remi going to be alright?" Remi could take care of herself when she needed to, so even that wasn't what was truly bothering her. "Can we trust him?"

Moon padded along dragging a deer carcass along, she stayed away from other wolves since she hasn't been exepted into the pack yet. Even though she was the biggest wolf there she knew she could do away with any challengers she still didn't want to fight. Not now. She sat the deer down and began to eat the carcass 10 minutes later she only had a leg left to eat. She was at least 4X larger than the doe she killed, she wolfed down the leg bones and all.nthen she stood and yawned, she licked the blood from her jaws and watched the wolves from afar
