Name:
Lapis Yohan Vessalius
Age: 4
Gender:
Female
Pelt Description:
Born with the sky in her heart, it is the earth that resides within her pelt, various shades of brown and cream mixed into the canvas that is her velvety fur. Splattered atop the darkest browns residing on her back is an inky black, which trails from the tip of her tail to the mask-like pattern adorning her face. Lapis is nothing short of breathtakingly gorgeous, from her lithe form to her legs that run for miles; she is aware of the power that comes with such beauty, and flaunts her elegance in confident strides, her head held high without a shred of insecurity.
In her eyes is the ocean, a palette that mirrors her emotions, that reveals what lies within whether it be calm, gentle waves rippling on the shore or a raging storm whose waves show no mercy. There are also times in which the blue waters become murky and unreadable, a blankness that only comes with secrecy and doubt. Such an enchanting shade of blue is one to be wary of, though, as if you gaze too deep into what could only be described as a ripple, you may find yourself lost in its mystery and charm.
Personality:
Lapis is a woman of many masks, an actress with a thousand different facades. Having grown up on the road, floating from one group to another, she got by simply telling others what they wanted to hear, being the wolf they wanted her to be. And thus, she mastered the art of pretending and locked her true self behind whatever persona she found ample for the time being. She could be the stoic, powerful woman, the submissive shy face, the sly, flirtatious maiden. She was an illusionist.
Her favorite, though, is the mask of a playful and mischievous wolf, one who finds the enjoyment and amusement in things. Often she'll poke fun at others, teasing them in a lighthearted manner. With Lapis comes an aura of mystery, one that she is content in keeping unsolvable. She is a riddle, a puzzle with a thousand ways to approach but no single solution. One might get to know her, but even so, they might not truly know her.
However, underneath it all, Lapis is a wolf whose eyes brim with curiosity. She seeks to understand the world and those living within. This side of her is one rarely seen by others, one that only comes out when she's with those she trusts the very most. Despite her often stoic and nonchalant attitude, Lapis is quite childish deep down. To those who find a place in her heart, she is a loyal and dedicated ally, albeit distant to some. To those who hurt the ones so rarely found in her heart, she will destroy without mercy in order to protect what little she has. Lapis is full of waves and tides that might lead to a thousand different places; unpredictable and unprecedented is the ocean's child.

History:
Dear child of wonder, open your eyes. Up, up, to the stars above.
Let them embrace you, let them fill your world with light.
May they be your guide through the perilous waves of life, may they hold you close until the time comes for you to join them.
She was always alone. Drifting from one group to another, flowing with the waves of life with no clear destination in mind, harboring no place to truly call home. It was unfortunate, really, the way that destiny played out for young Lapis, born into the world with a veil of innocence and purity that was undeserving of the cruelty that awaited her. No one else saw it as so, as it was naught but a law that the pack had followed for generations and generations. Three pups per mated couple, per family. Any more than that would be abandoned, exiled, for the pack had not the resources to support so many wolves. Between the four of them, Lapis and her siblings, it could've been anyone. Misfortune, that's what it must've been. A single stroke of bad luck that changed the course of Lapis' life, condemned her to a fate that knew no warmth, that set her on a journey with no destination.
Given to a travelling female, Lapis was raised by a wolf that was bonded to her by obligation, not by blood nor love. From the beginning, Lapis' eyes always shone with a brilliant sense of wonder, of curiosity for what might lie beyond the horizon, of what the world had in store for her to discover. She was never a bashful child, always confident and walking in stride as if she were Queen of the World, ready to claim all it had to offer. The female wasn't exactly fond of her, and thus, she was often juggled between various groups of loners. Whoever would take the rowdy child, really. They would accept her, eventually get tired of her, and hand her off to another. Thus was the life of Lapis Vessalius, who grew up meeting more wolves than she could even care to remember yet felt the distinct and overbearing weight of isolation on her shoulders.
As Lapis got older, she became a bit more reserved. No longer did she burst out with glee and allow her excitement to take the reigns, nor did she allow her curiousness to lead her into situations that were less than ideal. She became more cautious, more calculative of her actions. Without a key, she locked up her true self, the child of light whose soul shone with a wonderful brilliance and curiosity. In its place, Lapis wore a mask. A facade, an act that would appease whoever it was she spoke to, each time creating a personality that would benefit her the most. While she had never truly fallen in love, the recognized the beauty she had grown into, and used that to advantage as she lived her life on the road, following the flow that lead her forward and the stars that promised tomorrow would come. The world that was once so full of color and promise had become monochrome. She lived, but for what? Lapis had no dreams to pursue, no ambitions to drive her towards a nonexistent goal. It was he who changed her life, who returned color to her world one drop at a time.
Leraje, a wolf whose dreams of adventure were beyond her reach. He was so essentric, so charismatic, and for a long time, Lapis didn't understand it at all. For what reason did he try so hard to accomplish his dreams? They were large, much more than a single wolf could do in his lifetime, but he was aware of that and even so, he continued on with nothing but the simple idea of 'seeing the world'. He told stories of the multitude of places he had been to before, many of which Lapis could barely even imagine. Talking to him, spending time with him, it all felt like a dream. Never before had she imagined that such happiness existed; whenever she looked at him, a foreign warmth erupted in her chest and filled her like a Summer's day. When he spoke, his voice lingered in her mind and there were times in which Lapis admitted to herself that yes, she wouldn't have minded listening to that man's voice every day for the rest of her life. There was no avoiding it. This was love, wasn't it?
Lapis believed it to be such. It was he who taught her that the world wasn't as bleak as she found it to be. He removed the mask that she so desperately clung to; he was the key to what she had locked away so long ago. With Leraje at her side, she felt as if she could soar. That was, until he clipped those wings she grew so fond of. Oh, the woes of unrequited love. Lapis didn't understand, not at all. Things were going good. They were going great, actually, and thus, she had never once imagined that one day, he might leave. Together, they had loved in more ways than one. She was so sure, so so sure that he felt the same way, yet regardless, he was gone. A simple apology was all Lapis was given. "I'm sorry." He had said to her, his voice dripping with a melancholy she had never heard from him before. Without proper closure for her broken heart, she continued on. The things he had done for her changed her life, and even if the world threatened to become void of color once more, Lapis wouldn't let it. That meant everything Leraje had done was for naught, and even if she came to despise him, even if he became the bane of her existence, she couldn't forget him. He was the sun, and she was the moon; it just wasn't meant to be.
Picking up the pieces of her broken heart with gentle paws, Lapis continued her endless journey. It was only after a while that she came to the decision to change her life, to move herself onto a path that she had never taken before. She was always alone. There were times in which she felt the warmth of another, in which she allowed a single male into her heart, but in the end, all Lapis had was herself. Perhaps it was time to change that. The warmth of a family was something she was never lucky enough to know, yet she knew that deep down, it was something she longed for. Something she had longed for since the beginning. Maybe, then, it was time to embark on a new adventure. Where it would take her, she didn't know. The stars would be her guide, they would lead her through the perilous waves of life and now, it was time to face a new tide.
