Hosi took in a deep breath as he stalked his prey for the final time. Blue, hungry eyes stared daggers into the elk, watching its every move. For the past few sun movements, he'd been hunting this delicious deer, chipping away at its skin so that it would move slower. The entire body of his prey was bloody, mortally wounded by scratches and bites from the apex predator, Hosi. Now, the beast was so close to death that the giant black wolf could taste it.
Hosi stayed low, intently watching the elk. It was now licking its wounds, but there was too much blood for it to lick away. Even if Hosi did nothing, it would probably die of blood loss later. However, the dark wolf didn't have the patience to wait. He needed that delicious meat now. So, as the elk busied itself, Hosi raced forward.
Immediately, the deer's head shot up and looked at the wolf. Its eyes displayed its fear, for it knew the exact danger it was in. Without any hesitation, it ran the other way. However, it was slow. Every mark the elk allowed Hosi to make was meticulous. The bites on its front leg and the deep claws on its back thighs were all made to keep this deer from running. Now, as it gave its final sprint, the elk had finally realized how slow it really was.
Hosi had quickly caught up. No matter how fast it tried to run, the apex wolf was faster. When the giant alpha found himself running faster than the deer, he lunged at it, thrusting his entire body into the prey so that it would collapse. The elk lost its footing from Hosi's push. It's body was right over a hill, so it tumbled down. While it went, the beast made all types of noises, yelling out in both pain and fear. When it finally stopped rolling, it tried to stand, but was instantly forced back to the ground as the wolf jumped on top of it.
Hosi gave a snarl. "I hope you realize how troublesome you have been for me." He said to the elk, looking at it with incredible hatred. The deer cried out more, hoping that someone, anyone would hear it. It didn't want to die by the hands of this wolf. It had an innate desire to want to live. However, no one was going to save it. Even still, it hoped, and resonated a sound large enough to fill the forest. Anyone who was close, or even a mile away would hear its cries. However, they would abruptly end as Hosi edged his mouth to the elk's neck and snapped it. NOTES ;

open your eyes It was the distinct smell of blood, metallic and enticing, that first caught her attention. It beckoned and it called, the ever looming scent of death luring Lapis ever near. Perhaps it was merely curiosity that fueled her. Either that, or of course, the tempting concept of a meal. Not that she was starving, though. Leaves crunched beneath her paws and great pines towered overhead as the she-wold made her way through the forest, her guard held high and caution in every step as she traversed what she knew to be neutral territory, where anything might be lurking in its shadows. Surely she wasn't the only creature to be seduced by the pitiful call of dying prey. Her assumption proved to be correct as Lapis caught onto the lingering scent of another, most of their presence masked by the pungent smell of ever looming death. A wolf, yes, though not one of her own pack. A male? Only so much could be revealed by the scent of another; to fill in the rest of the story, she would need to gaze upon the scene with her own two eyes. The forest's fog hovered near to the earth, blanketing the sky in a layer of unsettling, blinding white. With her vision somewhat obscured, Lapis moved swiftly and carefully as she approached, the two scents growing stronger by the second. And then came the bloodcurdling screeches, the screams that held within them the prey's final moments. By the time she arrived upon the scene, it was much too late for the struggling elk. Deep blue eyes cast a wave over the stranger and his prey, observing what she may from appearances alone. He was a shadow, a large, dark form covered in an inky black, two blue eyes peeking out from what might've otherwise been an embodiment of the night. Lapis watched in amusement as he muttered something incoherent to the elk whose final breaths came out in ragged, quick succession before a quick snap filled the air. "A bit harsh, don't you think?" Lapis mused, her voice smooth as she spoke in a rather playful manner, gesturing at the many cuts, wounds, and bruises that were scattered along the elk's lifeless body, dripping blood into the soil beneath. "Playing with your food is a bad habit; an unattractive one, too."

The minute she spoke, Hosi's eyes quickly darted to the female. He spent his entire time in predator mode, openly aware to everything he saw, heard and sniffed. He didn't know that the female was around, but when the elk died was when smelt her and saw her presence. How long had she been there? He wondered. From the looks of it, she seemed harmless. However, even harmless animals could be hiding deadly venoms.
Hosi stepped off of the dead deer and sat next to it. He licked one of his paws, cleaning off the blood that soaked it. One taste was enough to drive Hosi into a sensation of ecstasy. He wanted nothing more than to sink his teeth into his claimed prize, but he couldn't as long as the female was here. There was no telling what she was here for or who she was here with. The minute he lowered his guard by eating, she could run over and rip the skin off his neck. There was a chance she wasn't alone too, and several hundred wolves were all around him, planning to ambush him for this elk. Hosi didn't know the type of danger she possessed, and he definitely didn't like not knowing.
"If it didn't run, it wouldn't suffer." Hosi answered the wolfess when she asked if he was being harsh. In truth, there could have been a more sensible way of killing the prey, but did Hosi give a damn about sensibility? All he wanted was his meal. If there was an even brutal, yet faster way of hunting these elk down, he'd perform the task in a heartbeat. Being unattractive? Psh. Satisfying his hunger? Definitely.
Hosi brought his dark blue eyes on the strange female, looking her over and sniffing the air. Her aroma was sweet and enjoyable, yet had tiny bits of other wolf scents on her. Was she apart of a pack? Hosi knew that there existed another family of wolves nearby, but he didn't know where. There was a border, though, that drew a line between his pack and the other. He never met a wolf of the other family, so there was a part of him that was very curious on what they were like.
"I take it, you've come for the elk? That, or to lecture me on how to properly hunt food." Hosi really hoped that it wasn't the latter. He went through his whole life receiving lectures, he'd be damned if he got another one. Alphas didn't receive lectures, they gave them.
"What's your name, female?" he asked her with great force, genuinely curious. Even as he sat, he was still a dark, bulky and towering mass. His muscles expanded on themselves, giving him the capability to rip any stomach open with one slash. His voice was deep and menacing, and his eyes were dangerous. Everything about Hosi radiated dominance, which was one of the main reasons he was called the apex predator. "Mine is Hosi. It is a pleasure to meet you."  it.  NOTES ;

open your eyes It was as if her words tore the male from his frenzied trance, his attention only turned to her presence once she broke the spell with her voice. Lapis watched as he moved away from his prized elk, taking seat next to it rather than beginning his feast. A wise choice. At the very least, she knew he was no reckless fool judging from such actions. Not that she had any plans to attack, though; not only did she have little to no reason to do so, but she was also smart enough to deduce that even if the male before her had exerted some of his energy on the hunt, the difference in their size and weight meant a loss for her regardless. Lapis took a single step forward, gauging his reaction to her approach whilst keeping a decent distance between them. Oh, she was quite sure the poor elk would've suffered immensely either way, judging from the injuries dealt on its body. Many of the wounds didn't seem to be freshly acquired, the blood that had once leaked from them long matted from perhaps a day or two of the body's paltry attempts at healing itself. This wasn't a victory found in one foul swoop, it was one conquered after days of sadistically chipping away at the oblivious prey, allowing it the self satisfaction and false hope of escape until it was ready to be struck down one final time. "If it didn't run, it wouldn't suffer." A smirked tugged at the edge of her lips as she formed a simple, nonchalant reply. "Must've made the wrong decision, then." Its final decision, a shame. The topic of conversation then moved to one with more substance than quip little remarks. Lapis hummed thoughtfully for a moment, as if the two options for the purpose of her presence were equally endearing. "The elk piqued my curiosity, yes, but seeing how much effort you put into this, it would be a crime to take it from you." Not that she could, probably, nor did she have the desire to. A bit of teasing never hurt, though. "But if it's a lecture you want," She began, acting as if she were actually considering it, "then I suppose that would work too."He then asked for her name. No, not asked. Demanded would be a better word. His posture, his words, the tone in his voice, all of it radiated raw power. Hosi, Lapis repeated in her mind, matching the name to the domineering wolf in front of her. Hosi spoke the way a leader would‒ or maybe a tyrant? Eh, same difference. Either way, he carried with him an aura of dominance to which Lapis would not submit, for she did not yet know who exactly he was. Even if that happened to be the case, if he were a wolf of high position, it wasn't in her pack; she held no loyalties to this man. "My name is Lapis," She offered in a cool voice. "Lapis Yohan Vessalius." The introduction was much more... formal than need be, and to top it off, she added a jest, "The pleasure is mine, your grace."
